Hawzah News Agency (Cairo, Egypt) - Heading a delegation comprising members of the federation and a number of Brazilian government officials and business people, Mohamed Hussein El Zoghbi plans to hold talks with Egyptian officials on Sunday on development of trade between the two countries.
The delegation specifically seeks to develop the presence of Brazilian food industry firms in Egypt’s Halal market.
The Brazilian delegation will later visit the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
Brazil is the world's top exporter of meat, including the halal or "religiously permissible" meat deemed suitable for consumption by nearly 2 billion Muslims across the globe.
Islam has specific guidelines on what kind of food its adherents should consume.
It is estimated that the world’s halal-certified food and beverage industry is worth around $500 billion.
